Whether it’s a doorknob hole, an old TV mount anchor, water damage, or a patch from a past renovation — drywall repair is one of the most common calls we get across Barrie and Simcoe County. Alex brings a professional restoration background to every patch: the right compound, the right texture match, and a two-visit process that actually holds. No shortcuts, no visible seams three months later. Every job ends with a written photo report so you can see exactly what was done — especially useful for landlords, home sellers, and CFB Borden move-outs.

Why Drywall Repair Takes Two Visits — And Why That's the Right Way

Any drywall patch that dries properly needs time between coats. Anyone who patches and paints in one visit is cutting a corner you'll see within weeks. Here's how we do it right.

  1. Visit One: Patch & Prime

We assess the damage, cut back to clean drywall if needed, apply the appropriate backing, fill with compound, and apply a first coat. We let it dry completely before touching it again. Your home is clean and tidy before we leave — the patch just needs time.

  2. Dry Time (24–48 Hours)

Compound needs to dry fully before sanding. Rushing this is the single biggest cause of visible cracks, bubbles, and failed patches. We schedule the return visit with enough dry time built in.

  3. Visit Two: Sand, Texture & Touch-Up

We sand smooth, match the existing wall texture (flat, orange peel, knockdown, or popcorn), apply primer and touch-up paint. The patch disappears. You receive a photo report the same day showing the finished result.

Texture Matching — Getting It Right

Texture matching is the part most handymen skip or get wrong. Alex has repaired drywall in Barrie homes built in every decade from the 1960s to last year — he's matched every common Ontario texture type:

Texture Types We Match:

  1. Flat / Smooth

No texture applied — common in newer Barrie builds and renovated spaces. Requires particularly careful sanding and priming for an invisible finish.

  2. Orange Peel

Light, bumpy texture created with a spray gun or roller. Most common in 1990s–2000s builds across Barrie, Innisfil, and Bradford subdivisions.

  3. Knockdown

Heavier, irregular texture applied by hand or spray then "knocked down" with a trowel. Common in custom builds and higher-end finishes.

  4. Popcorn / Acoustic (ceilings)

We patch popcorn ceiling damage — note that we do not remove popcorn ceilings (that is an abatement service requiring specific testing). If your popcorn ceiling is undamaged but for the repair area, we can match the texture. If you want the whole ceiling done, we refer to a specialist.

Who We Help

  1. Homeowners

You want it done right, not just covered over. Whether you've had a doorknob punch through a wall or you're patching a spot before repainting, you need someone who'll match the texture and make it disappear. That's what we do.

  2. Landlords & Property Managers

Between tenants, between problems. Tenant damage, old anchor holes, doorstop impact — we get your unit ready for the next tenant fast, with flat-rate pricing you can budget for and a photo report for your records.

  3. CFB Borden Military Families

Posting out? Don't lose your damage deposit. PMQ inspections are thorough. We patch every wall anchor, TV mount hole, and doorknob dent — flat rate, same week, documented with photos. We know posting timelines and we work around them.

Drywall Repair - FAQs

Pricing depends on the size of the damage. Small holes (nail holes, anchors, up to 3 inches) are $150 flat. Medium patches (fist-size, up to 6 inches) are $200–$300. Larger patches up to 12 inches square run $275–$375. Full sheet replacement — for water damage or significant impact — starts at $450. We always send a written quote before arriving so you know exactly what to expect.
Because doing it in one visit means rushing the dry time — and rushed drywall cracks, bubbles, or shows a visible seam within weeks. Visit one: we patch, back, and apply first coat. We let it dry fully (24–48 hours depending on the repair size and humidity). Visit two: sand, texture match, prime, and touch-up paint. The result holds and the patch disappears. That’s why we do it in two visits and why you should be cautious of anyone who doesn’t.
Yes. We match flat, orange peel, knockdown, and popcorn ceiling textures — the four most common in Barrie and Simcoe County homes. Texture matching takes experience and the right materials. We assess the existing texture before quoting so there are no surprises.
We include touch-up paint as part of the repair — the patch area is primed and painted to match. We do not paint full walls or full rooms. If you need the whole wall repainted for a consistent colour match, you’ll need to arrange that separately or ask us for a referral to a trusted painter.
Yes — this is one of our most common requests. Landlords book us between tenants for damage punch lists. CFB Borden military families book us before PMQ move-out inspections. We price move-out jobs as a flat package based on room count and number of repairs — you get a written quote up front and a photo report when we’re done, which is useful for your own records.
Yes, we repair the drywall after the water source has been fixed. We do not do plumbing work beyond faucets and minor leaks — if you have an active leak, that needs to be resolved first. Once the source is addressed and the area is dry, we assess the damage and quote accordingly. Water damage often requires full section replacement rather than patching, which we do.
